2012 moving on

Christmas and New Year are over (sadly) and it's back to normality. I'm going to put down the chocolate box and the cheese board and go back to my usual diet (well I'll try too!). 2012 was a big year; a lot of things happened which changed how I view my life; I had a lot of tears and heartache over family things; and I also had the craziest and funniest times with my best friends.

During the spring/summer of 2012, my style was, well let's say, "indie" and "grunge". I hate defining what I used to wear into a category but basically that's how other people viewed it. I wore some strange outfits and clothing pieces which I do sort of cringe at now, but at the time I did like how I dressed. Most of my clothes cost under £4 from eBay or charity shops and so I ended up filling 2 wardrobes and a chest-of-drawers and my floor with items! Going back to sixth form in September after a summer of wearing denim shorts and t shirts I realised that I needed to change my style. After looking into studying Fashion Marketing at uni, I decided that I needed to dress more with trends and 'classier'. I ditched the bleach blonde hip length hair, for a chocolate brown shoulder length style (I cut and dyed it myself) and decided to invest into some more expensive high street labels. 3 months on: my hair is ombre and I am definitely dressing more like a woman and less like a boy!

New Years Resolutions:

01: DON'T BUY PRESENTS FOR MYSELF!
After my driving test first time in July, I had no money worrys. The £250 a month I was spending on lessons was no longer needed and I took this as spending money whenever I wanted on whatever I wanted! Buying my own car at the end of November had killed my bank and I am currently living off next to nothing :( No more expensive JC's or other shoes for myself until I find a third job or make some serious money off eBay

02: STOP BUYING THINGS IN THE SALES!
I'm addicted to sales. The second I see "50% off", I'm there, at the checkout, with a basket or handful of things. I end up buying random items which I can't wear with anything other than a pair of jeans or things which are too big or too small.

03: START DOING OUTFIT POSTS!
After a couple of months of reviving my wardrobe I now have plenty of new outfits. I've made a promise to myself that I'll do two outfits posts by the time I go back to 6th sixthform (which is in like 4/5 days!). So, watch this space..

Pantene Pro V Review

I bought this Pantene Pro V 2 in 1 Colour Damage Rescue Treatment Masque about 4/5 months ago. At this time, I was trying to salvage my super long blonde hair which I'd destroyed with tonnes of bleach :(

It cost £3.99 from my local co-op and definitely think it's worth it!
I used a small amount most nights and it did make my hair feel nicer but after a spontaneous plan to cut off my hair, my hair is now just below shoulder length. It feels soooo much nicer and using this once a week definitely keeps it in very good condition. I would definitely recommend this if you've damaged your hair huge amounts from dye/heat products.

NASTY GAL

I've been lusting after Nasty Gal's shoes for the past few days; they are so beautiful! I have this weird amazement for big, chunky, black, leather, boots and heels and even though I'll probably never ever wear them, I just want to have them all. Mmm, they're so lovely. Also, they are pretty cheap after converting the dollars to pounds and adding on possible custom charges and shipping fees, it works out as being worth the wait and money. I definitely think I'll ask for a pair of the JC huuuuge lita boot (the top photo) for my 18th.

Ps. I'm having a good evening as I just got an offer from London Met to do Fashion Martkeing :)

portfolio writing

I'm off to university in September and I've applied to London Met twice, Northampton, De Montfort and University for the Creative Arts to do either fashion marketing, fashion marketing and journalism, fashion buying with marketing and also fashion journalism.
Two of the uni's are asking for a portfolio. I am so unsure of how to begin.
I have planned to photograph outfits I've styled which follow recent fashion trends, maybe a few screenshots of my blog, possibly some drawings of designs and photocopies of my Art&Design sketchbooks from the past 4 years. I really don't know if this is the right way to approach it.
Luckily for UCA I have 6 weeks to piece together a portfolio for my 2 HOUR interview ahhhh.
London Met also emailed me earlier about the fashion marketing and journalism course, asking me to write a 200 word article on an event which has happened recently in my local area which affected people. Major panicked when I read it, but with the help of my sister I have written about the Jubilee. I had to force myself to remember all of the techniques which I learnt during GCSE English Language and I really hope it's paid off

Wish me luck x

topshop's delightful new stock

Christmas List making and Topshop's new stock is so lovely!

1. Oversize Porcelain Bird Shirt - such a lovely pattern and this would definitely be wearable in the S/S over cut off denim shorts. And by the looks of it, it could be long enough to be worn with just tights.
2. Pearl Roll Neck Crop Top - I've been lusting over embellished crop tops for a couple of weeks now and this is perfect. It would really good with a black skater skirt which I would dress up with either my JC's or my Office platform boots (I will definitely do a post on them soon!) or dressed down for sixth form with a pair of black brogues.
3. Sparkle Skater Dress - this is a colour which I would not usually chose but I feel that it's perfect for Christmas. I love skater dresses a lot and I think that they're really flattering and with a price tag of £38, it's affordable.
4. Velvet Shorts - dark green is a must-have for the festive season and these are adorable. Perfect with a black sheer shirt or an embellished crop top.
5. Cyber Warrior Collar - this caught my eye immediately. It does have a hefty price tag of £28, but I think that it's a timeless piece which could be worn often. I would wear it with a velvet LBD or a white baggy tee, jeans and converse - whatever the occasion really!

(lack of posting due to stressful two weeks with UCAS and working backstage for the school production)
